Top 5 “Stylish” Holiday Party Planning Tips

29 Nov

Hi Loves!

‘Tis the season to be planning and attending holiday shindigs and soirees. I don’t want to leave you hanging, so here are some helpful tips and trends to help you plan a stylish, fun, and flawless event that your guests will still be talking about in 2012.

1. Guest List: When drafting your Guest-List, Don’t invite who you know, invite who you like! This will save you money and ensure a great time for all of your guests!

2. Party Favor: Create a CD of memorable songs from 2011 and give as a parting gift to each of your special guests.

3. Invite Santa! If you really want to make an impression, ask someone maybe a daring friend come dressed as Santa Clause. Santa will dance and mingle with guests…this is sure to be a show stopper. If you want to push the envelope a little more, how about a holiday costume party. E.g Masquerade

4. Desert Bars are a tasty new trend. They add a fun and whimsical alternative to events!

5. Cocktails with a Twist: Put a special spin to some of your favorite cocktails. Here’s a delicious “Ginger Snap” cocktail recipe:

Ingredients

  •     1 oz. ginger beer
  •     Ice
  •     1 tsp. ginger juice
  •     1 1/2 oz. dark rum
  •     1 tsp. cinnamon schnapps
  •     Pinch of ground cloves
  •     1 egg white
  •     Cinnamon stick
  •     Crystallized ginger square
  •     Finely ground gingerbread cookie

Directions

Pour enough ginger beer into a saucer to cover and dip a martini glass into the saucer to coat the rim. Dip into a saucer with ground cookie. Scoop ice into shaker. Pour ginger juice, rum and cinnamon schnapps into a shaker. Add a pinch of ground cloves. Separate an egg and add egg white to shaker. Shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds until drink is frothy and foamy. The longer you shake, the foamier the drink. Add ginger beer and stir slightly. Pour into glass.

Garnish with a cinnamon stick and crystallized ginger square, and sprinkle the top with finely ground gingerbread cookie.

Cheers to having a Fabulous Holiday Party and a Happy New Year from Style & Steel Event Planning!

With Style,

Using Social Media to Find a Job

1 Sep

Finding a job in this economy is not easy. Unemployment rates are through the roof and being out in the real world is a scary thing. If you utilize social media in a smart way you can find a job quicker then you’ll realize.. Here are some tips on how to land that first job-

1. Facebook

Facebook’s popularity is known throughout the world. It is the largest social networking site. Make sure your profile is set so if any future employer views it (and chances are they will) there is nothing inappropriate on there.

2. LinkedIn

Through this website you can put your resume online and your profile is then searchable by many recruiters and companies everywhere. Many companies are starting to use LinkedIn now. To really get results be sure to add recommendations from previous employers and anyone you have worked with!

3. Twitter:

If you don’t have a twitter account yet, make one! It’s an excellent resource for job searches; thanks to the excellent keyword search on the website. It’s easy to connect with someone anywhere int he world whose already working in your field. Once you get an account, connect with people who share your interests, do a keyword search pertaining to the job you are looking for and you’ll be surprised at the results!

4. Blog

Start a blog and discuss on it topics that are of interest to you to connect with others. Industry experts might notice your entries and get in touch with you! Make sure you do your research and actively participate in other blogs as well.

What are Some Benefits of Speed Dating?

11 Aug

Style & Steel’s Speed Dating event is coming up! Don’t miss this chance to meet other singles in your area! Here are some reasons we feel you should be part of our event:

  • Instead of meeting one person, this event will be a chance for you to meet many sexy singles in one day!
  • Ever had a bad date you couldn’t get out of quick enough? Time efficiency factors into this, with speed dating you talk to someone for a couple minutes and if things are awkward it’s onto the next person!
  • Cut the small-talk and get right to the point! Ask the other person their interests, hobbies. No beating around the bush!
  • Safe environment is always important, this is a chance to meet many individuals in the company of others around you.

Use Social Media to Spread Word about your Events!

4 Aug

With some resources available now like networking sites there are many opportunities for you to spread word about your events even in the pre-planning process!

  • ENGAGE: Interact with the crowd as much as possible. Ways to do this would be to get their feedback, or create polls where they can express their opinions on your past events. Or if you have a couple different design ideas for your blog in your head let people vote on which they think would look the best.

  • INTRIGUE: Try to increase your search engine listings by spreading the word about specific events in as many ways as you can think of. Create Facebook events, tweet about it, put flyers online and utilize your blogs as much as possible.

  • GET PEOPLE TALKING: Through sites like Twitter you can really create an impact and get people talking about an event. Create hash tags for your specific event, for example- #StyleandSteel #OneNightStands. This will help possible attendees keep a monitor on the event and on your company.
